The show – which pays homage to the cult films of the 80s – will reportedly be bringing in The Goonies actor Sean Astin and Aliens star Paul Reiser. They will be joined by a number of new cast regulars; including Sadie Sink, Dacre Montgomery, and Danish newcomer Linnea Berthelsen. While plot details are being kept firmly under wraps, brief character descriptions offer fans some hints over what to expect. According to Entertainment Weekly, Astin has been cast as Bob Newby, “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.” Reiser – who seems to be replacing Matthew Modine as the season’s villain – will play Dr. Owens, “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.” Berthelsen takes on the role of Roman, a character who is described as “emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child.” Although she apparently doesn’t live in Hawkins, she is “mysteriously connected” to the supernatural events at the lab. The TV show has also confirmed earlier rumours that Millie Bobby Brown would be reprising her role as Eleven, posting an image from the production meeting on Twitter this weekend. Brown was pictured sitting in the centre of the meeting table, and was joined by other newcomers Sadie Sink (who plays suspicious “tomboy” Max) and Dacre Montgomery (who plays the “girlfriend-stealing bad boy” Billy). Season two of Stranger Things is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2017. sƃuıɥʇɹǝƃuɐɹʇs#ɹɐǝʎ ʇxǝu noʎ ǝǝsuoıʇɔnpoɹd uı ʞɔɐq pic.twitter.com/jYd1tDsPRi— Stranger Things (@Stranger_Things) November 4, 2016Escape the algorithm!
