Cyberpunk 2077 creator CD Projekt Red has kindly asked that its players stop having sex with virtual Keanu Reeves. Following a fan mod that allowed players to have sex with Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand, the developer told PC Gamer that user-generated content cannot be “harmful towards others”.
“For the characters we’ve invented for the game, we broadly permit you to tweak the game at will and just have fun,” CD Projekt Red told PC Gamer. “When it comes to models of real people whom we’ve asked to participate in the game, we kindly ask you to refrain from using them in any situation that might be found offensive if you don’t have their explicit permission.”
Reeves’ character does, in fact, have an in-game sex scene, though it plays out from his perspective. The player, as Johnny, has sex with a blonde woman, while she pours liquor onto her white top to a backdrop of guitar riffs.
While it’s normal for players to personalise their experience through user-made modifications on sites like Nexus Mods, the Keanu sex mod has been hidden by its creator following the CD Projekt Red’s complaints.
Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December to mixed reception, after having a particularly messy production cycle, and CD Projekt Red quickly began to offer refunds. Many players complained about in-game bugs, including dodgy frame-rates and body parts appearing where they shouldn’t be.
Some characters amusingly pointed out that their character’s breasts or penis were appearing through their clothes, while others reported driving glitches where their car is suddenly flung into the air for no reason.
The game’s soundtrack is, however, an absolute banger, and includes the likes of A$AP Rocky, Grimes, SOPHIE, Shygirl, Nina Kraviz, Run the Jewels, among others. Have a look at some of the best tracks here.
