Greta Thunberg tells Donald Trump: ‘Chill Donald, chill!’

In a throwback to his 2019 tantrum, the teenage climate activist has once again outplayed the US president

Days after the 2020 US presidential election (November 3), and still awaiting the final counts in key states, Donald Trump has falsely declared victory and taken to Twitter to stoke fears about fraudulent voting, with calls to “stop the count” and “stop the fraud”. Unsurprisingly, the misleading tweets have successfully rallied many of his supporters, who have gathered outside – and in some cases tried to storm – vote-counting centres ahead of the final result.

While the response to Trump’s claims on social media is a worrying development as the election goes on, Greta Thunberg has provided a response of her own, and it couldn’t be more perfect.

Retweeting Trump’s desperate “stop the count” tweet, the teenage climate activist wrote: “So ridiculous. Donald must work on his Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Donald, Chill!”

In case you missed it, Thunberg’s reply is a throwback to Trump’s own whiny attack on her back in 2019, when he responded to her being named TIME’s Person of the Year with an almost identical tweet. Needless to say, it was worth the wait.

Having repeatedly called for world leaders to do a better job of tackling the climate crisis since her first school strike in 2018, Thunberg has clashed with Trump on multiple occasions (throwing tantrums at a teenager trying to highlight climate change is not a good look for the president of the United States, FYI).

Joe Biden, on the other hand, has recently confirmed that his administration would rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, which Greta Thunberg has long supported (though she has also criticised her home country of Sweden, as well as the European Union, for failing to follow the targets it lays out).
