Yuck (UK, London)

Sunshine, slacker revival with North London’s fuzzy quintet

So London is currently coming out with enough fuzzy goodness to rival New York or Los Angeles. Yuck (Jonny, Max, Daniel, Mariko and Ilana) sound like a joyful Sonic Youth at their most accessible, with a bit of Sebadoh’s (or Giant Drag) not-quite grunge or garage pop and the enthusiastic looseness of a band that has only been together for three months. Their first single “Georgia” is out this month (a split 7” release with Herzog on Transparent Records) and is a little bottle of awesome - slacker, sunshine pop with undulating shoegaze melodies. There’s even a £1 zine of their scraggly band drawings available too. Yuck are on tour with New Times Roman throughout March, April and one date in May. See below for details and an exclusive download of “Sunday” alongside “Georgia”.
