Music / RiseYuck (UK, London)Sunshine, slacker revival with North London’s fuzzy quintetShareLink copied ✔️March 8, 2010MusicRiseText Terence Teh So London is currently coming out with enough fuzzy goodness to rival New York or Los Angeles. Yuck (Jonny, Max, Daniel, Mariko and Ilana) sound like a joyful Sonic Youth at their most accessible, with a bit of Sebadoh’s (or Giant Drag) not-quite grunge or garage pop and the enthusiastic looseness of a band that has only been together for three months. Their first single “Georgia” is out this month (a split 7” release with Herzog on Transparent Records) and is a little bottle of awesome - slacker, sunshine pop with undulating shoegaze melodies. There’s even a £1 zine of their scraggly band drawings available too. Yuck are on tour with New Times Roman throughout March, April and one date in May. See below for details and an exclusive download of “Sunday” alongside “Georgia”.WHATS…...so special about you, then?Obviously Jonny's fro-child.…the last film you saw?Le Beau Marriage by Eric Rohmer, it wasn’t great....the last song you heard?“San Geronimo” by Red House Painters, it was great....the song you wish you had written? “The Macarena.”...the best piece of advice you've heard?Don't confuse angels and children....better, dusk or dawn?1000 times dusk.…so good about London? The Millennium Bridge....your favourite piece of clothing?Jeans....the world coming to?Jonny says that the world is going to end soon....the name of your hero?David Berman....so special about your hero?He breathes art.
