Or is there a collab with SZA on the way? These are the questions that many have been left asking after the Icelandic artist posted a series of fan-made mash-ups combining her own music with that of four-time Grammy Award winner SZA on X last night (August 21). The YouTube bootlegs, which included Björk’s “Pagan Poetry” crossed with SZA’s “Drew Barrymore”, “All is Full of Love” mixed with “Saturn”, and “Hunter” mashed with “Seek & Destroy”, were posted on Björk’s feed without context, and were soon reposted by SZA along with the caption “IM SORRY WHAATT ?? I BEG UR FUCKING PARDON !???” The mash-ups themselves were all created by various users within the last year, and one even included a copyright disclaimer declaring the video under fair use. Luckily, Björk doesn’t seem to want to press charges anytime soon. Initial responses from fans interpreted the posts as the work of hackers, however when it later emerged that they had also been shared on the singer’s official Facebook page, the rumour mill began to turn. “BJZZA IS COMING” one X user posted, whilst another pointed out that SZA has long been a fan of Björk‘s, having previously sampled “Hidden Place” on “Forgiveless”. An additional fan added that Björk had previously posted a fan-made mash-up featuring Rosalía before dropping a collab with her a couple of months later. Such out of context posts are not uncharacteristic of Björk’s social media presence, however, which includes everything from environmental advocacy to plugging her own homemade Christmas baubles. Whether the singer was simply enjoying some fan-made remixes or hinting at something bigger, remains to be seen. just a reminder that björk posted a mashup of her song with rosalía and then gave us a collab of them two months later…. so I actually expect a sza collab sometime in the future 😆😆 pic.twitter.com/WpFj3Tb1Jg— 𐚁 (@bjorkspears) August 21, 2024 Björk getting hacked and the hacker posting SZA x Björk mashups was DEFINITELY NOT ON MY LIST TODAY😭😭 pic.twitter.com/Ckcn5pinVO— 𐚁 (@bjorkspears) August 21, 2024 IM SORRY WHAATT ??
