Music / NewsMusic / NewsDavid Lynch shares new music with Twin Peaks collaborator ChrystabellThe pair’s new track, ‘Sublime Eternal Love’, will feature on their upcoming joint album Cellophane MemoriesShareLink copied ✔️June 6, 2024June 6, 2024TextThom Waite David Lynch has been offline for a while now, but yesterday he finally returned with a music video uploaded to his much-loved YouTube account. No stranger to the world of music (see previous hits such as Crazy Clown Time and The Big Dream) the filmmaker teams up with frequent collaborator Chrystabell for the new, ethereal record, “Sublime Eternal Love”, with more to come. Lynch and Chrystabell previously worked together on the soundtrack for 2006’s Inland Empire (which sadly remains his most recent feature film), with Lynch also producing her debut album, This Train, in 2011. A collaborative EP, Somewhere in the Nowhere, would follow five years later, with writing and production by the Blue Velvet auteur. Chrystabell also made an appearance in the 2017 revival of Twin Peaks, as Special Agent Tamara Preston. The new, atmospheric song from the pair arrives alongside a dreamlike music video, starring Chrystabell and directed by Lynch (naturally). A full-length album, Cellophane Memories, is set to follow, with the release scheduled for August 2, via the record label Sacred Bones. Unsurprisingly, given Lynch’s close relationship with the composer, there are also hints of the late Angelo Badalamenti on “Sublime Eternal Love”. Despite his death in 2022, the musician is actually credited for the synthesizer sounds on the song, and is expected to feature elsewhere on the album. Commenting on the album, Chrystabell herself says that it contains “many doors that are left open to wonder, wander and get turned around in,” adding: “It’s like mood music, not that it creates mood, but more that it reflects your own.” Take a look at the album cover for Cellophane Memories, and the full tracklist, below.
