Set to take place virtually next month (January 30), the auction will mark the latest collaboration between Julien’s Auctions and MusiCares, the charity branch of the Recording Academy, which provides support and safety nets for the health and welfare of the music community. BTS will lead the auction with a range of suits worn at the 2021 Grammys, where they performed their record-breaking single “Dynamite”. The suits are estimated to fetch between $30,000 and $50,000. A 56 Epiphone Les Paul Pro electric guitar signed by members RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, will also go on sale. Harry Styles, meanwhile, will contribute another guitar (a gold Gibson ES-335 electric acoustic guitar, more specifically) with an inscription from the artist. This will be on offer alongside a signed copy of Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar” record – reading, “All my love to you, treat people with kindness” – and Polaroid-style photos from the track’s video shoot. Also on offer via the auction are instruments from Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, and Dolly Parton. Other lots include an oil painting of Jimi Hendrix by Joni Mitchell, and a leather trench coat worn by Black Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne.
