The track will also feature Caroline Polachek and Christine and the Queens, as previously hinted in a series of cryptic posts from the iconic trio. Alongside the announcement, the musician has also shared a brief snippet of the imminent XCX5 track, in a 20-second video that sees her declare: “This one is pretty good.” Listen below. In their previous teasers, the musicians have shared what appear to be lyrics from the song. “We could fall in love in new shapes,” wrote Charli in an October 30 tweet. “Fucked if I know how it’s gonna end,” added Polachek in the same, distinctive font the same day, followed by a line from Christine and the Queens: “When the morning comes all misty, we fade.” The “New Shapes” collaborators will feature on a generous list of guest artists and producers for the follow-up to how i’m feeling now. As revealed earlier this week, longtime collaborator A. G. Cook will also make an appearance, alongside Rina Sawayama, Oneohtrix Point Never, The 1975’s George Daniel, and more. According to Charli XCX, her fifth album will see her move away from her more recent hyperpop sound, toward what she describes as “ultimate pop music”.
