Cardi B is set to star in an upcoming comedy from Paramount, titled Assisted Living.
The film will see her take on the role of Amber, “a small-time crook who finds herself in over her head when a heist goes wrong”, Variety reports. On the run from the law and her former crew, Amber has to lie low in her estranged grandmother’s nursing home, disguised as an old woman.
Assisted Living is also the first film to cast the rapper in a lead role. She previously made her feature-length acting debut in Lorene Scafaria’s stripper film Hustlers, across from J-Lo, Constance Wu, and Lizzo.
Details on Assisted Living are still pretty scarce, and a release date is yet to be announced. We do know that the film is based on an original script by Kay Oyegun, a screenwriter for This Is Us and Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar.
In the meantime, Cardi B fans can watch her try her hand at being a firefighter, a stunt car driver, a teacher, a ballerina, and more, in her Facebook series Cardi Tries, which premiered in December last year. Towards the end of 2020, she also took on the role of a fortune teller, predicting her fans’ futures via Instagram.
