Miley Cyrus reveals collaborations for her upcoming Metallica cover record

Her take on ‘Nothing Else Matters’ will bring together Elton John and other ‘all-star’ musicians

Miley Cyrus has revealed that her upcoming Metallica cover record will bring together an unlikely mix of musicians, including a guest spot for Elton John.

“I did a Metallica cover of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ featuring Elton John on the piano,” the singer says, in a recent interview with Capital FM. The cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers are also set to make an appearance. “So many all-stars in this band,” Cyrus adds. “I’m so excited about this collaboration.”

“I love when ingredients don’t quite fit, or it seems like a concoction that no one would ever put together.”

Besides proving herself the queen of cover songs over lockdown – her take on The Cranberries’ “Zombie” was a highlight of 2020 – Miley Cyrus enlisted special guests Dua Lipa, Joan Jett, and Billy Idol for her most recent album, Plastic HeartsIn November, she also teamed up with Stevie Nicks for a reworked version of the Fleetwood Mac singer’s 1981 classic, “Edge of Seventeen”.

In the last year alone, Elton John has also made big guest appearances on Gorillaz’s Song Machine project (via “The Pink Phantom”) and Lady Gaga’s Chromatica.

Miley Cyrus announced that she was working on a Metallica covers album back in October last year, though we’re still waiting on a release date.
