Written and recorded in quarantine, the track is a euphoric lockdown banger, with production from Jamie xx, Fred again.., Jay Anonymous, and Marta Salogni. Now, Romy has followed up the song with a four-track remix EP, featuring reworked versions of “Lifetime” from Planningtorock, HAAi, Anz, and 2019 Dazed 100er Jayda G (listen below). “I’m so excited to share four remixes of Lifetime from four of my favourite producers right now,” she writes in a statement shared to Instagram. “When I was making the song I dreamt about being in a club, celebrating with my friends, you have each transported me back there in such different and unique ways, it’s amazing to hear!” “So excited for these to be out at last, dreaming of when we can be together listening to these in a club.” In October, Romy also talked to Dazed about being influenced by club classics and a desire to be back on the dancefloor. “Lifetime”, she says, “came out of missing the outside world. Everything was still. The fast-paced energy of the track is a contrast to the state I was in when it was made. I think subconsciously it came from the desire to have that euphoria and release that I wasn’t getting.” Listen to the remixed versions of “Lifetime” below, and revisit Dazed’s interview here.
