The early-noughties teens who hung out in skate parks listening to 3OH!3 straight out their flip phones are cut from the same cloth as the zoomers of today, who plan pilgrimages to the 100 gecs tree on Google Maps and know every Dylan Brady remix by heart.
For this reason, a merging of the two, while certainly surprising, isn’t a big shock, especially when you consider 100 gecs’ penchant for collaboration (Think: A.G. Cook, Charli XCX, and Dorian Electra).
Shortly after announcing their comeback via YouTube video on November 9, Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte of 3OH!3 have returned with their first release in four years, “LONELY MACHINES”. Enlisting the help of 100 gecs, the track harkens back to the golden days of emo pop punk, recalling bangers like “DONTTRUSTME” and “My First Kiss”. Naturally, Laura Les and Dylan Brady have added their terminally online flair to the song too, so get ready for some 8-bit crunkcore.
Earlier this week, 100 gecs revealed yet another collaboration – this time with Rico Nasty. Following on from Rico’s rendition of “ringtone” back in August, new track “OHFR?” is an infectuous rager – watch the video here.
