Gorillaz reveal the next collaboration in their Song Machine project

The announcement comes a few weeks after episode one, which featured slowthai and Slaves

So far, Gorillaz’ new project, Song Machine, seems to be built around fairly spontaneous collaborations, meaning that we’re always going to be waiting with bated breath to see who’s coming next.

In the project’s debut episode, for example, slowthai and Slaves featured on a track titled “Momentary Bliss”, which was accompanied by a half-animation, half-live-action video of the various artists jamming in someone’s apartment.

Now, Gorillaz have revealed the collaboration that will feature in their second episode (and also, by extension, forthcoming new music): Fatoumata Diawara. The Malian singer previously joined Damon Albarn on the 2012 “Africa Express” train tour of the UK.

Gorillaz also shared what is presumably a (very brief) snippet of the track last week (February 17).

While there isn’t a release date for the new episode yet, we didn’t have to wait long after the teaser last time around. “World is moving faster than a supercharged particle, so we’ve gotta stay ready to drop,” the band has said about the project in a statement.

“We don’t even know who’s stepping through the studio next. Song Machine feeds on the unknown, runs on pure chaos.”
