So we wouldn’t expect anything less from Grimes’ pregnancy, which was announced earlier this month (January 8) via a pic of the baby superimposed on the singer’s stomach. Continuing the theme, Grimes unveiled social media accounts for a weird, virtual baby-like figure yesterday. She has named her as WarNymph, and the accompanying image shows what looks like a 3D graphic baby with red nails, toting a bow and arrow, reciting apocalyptic prophecies. “This is the end of the world,” it says in a video on the Twitter account, which – like its Instagram counterpart – is set to private. “The world stands on a ledge. Death and the end is nigh.” From there, it all gets even more bizarre, as the red-eyed creature tells a story in which: “the sun explodes and we all die.” Not the most optimistic take on the world it’s about to be brought into, but then again there’s a lot to be pessimistic about right now. A message from @WarNymph.:https://t.co/MfIfDjRqfl:. pic.twitter.com/I8WfFK7NET— ༺GRIMES CHARTS༻ (@GrimezszCharts) January 22, 2020 The message also seems to reflect Grimes’ recent comments surrounding her forthcoming album, Miss Anthropocene, which saw her touch on climate change and other modern phenomena that have made it possible for humans to “eradicate our species ourselves”, such as the nuclear bomb and potentially AI. Though the social media accounts are currently private, Grimes says this is only while she is “in beta form” (is that a 23rd century way of saying “still in the womb”?). She’s also responded to tweet saying “ur baby”, replying: “Technically this one is a de-aged digital clone but prob similar.” Edit: Late last night (January 22), Grimes posted an update that seems to suggest the avatar isn’t directly linked to the announcement of her own pregnancy - "what the hell are you guys talking about?", we don't know either.
