‘Tis the season for our culture faves to go festive AF on us. Last week fashion designer Yang Li brought out a funeral-inspired Christmas album, while Mac DeMarco shared his rendition of Nat King Cole's “The Christmas Song” along with Australian musician Kirin J Callinan to raise money for victims of California wildfires.
Next on the list is Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, who has done the most Thom Yorke-doing-Christmas thing. He mixed together the most depressing seasonal song – “Silent Night” – with his own melancholy track “Reckoner”, from Radiohead's 2008 album In Rainbows, in an impromptu Christmas mashup.
Singing live at his Las Vegas gig on December 22, Yorke drifted from the Christmas melody softly into the cult Radiohead track to solid cheers from the crowd.
Yorke's been busy over the past few weeks. As well as releasing an hour-long mix for BBC Radio 6 Music, Yorke was nominated for an Oscar earlier this month with “Suspirium”, from the cult horror movie reboot Suspiria.
