Entitled 'YANG LI 1987-2087’, it was accompanied by the droning guitar tones of JK Flesh, aka Justin Broadrick of Jesu. The show itself – which featured models in bird-cage veiled hats, sharp tailoring, and lots of black liptstick – was based on a funeral, evoking melancholy shot through with optimism. And now, you can buy its haunting sounds on a limited-edition vinyl EP called Christmas, produced by Hospital Productions in partnership with Broadrick. This epic vinyl features three exclusive tracks intended to soundtrack to an imagined celebratory funeral. As well as the original show music, the record includes two twelve-minute reinterpretations including "Life Mass" and another by Prurient. From collaborating with industrial noise artist Pharmakon, to the launch of merch for his fictional band, Samizdat – Li’s designs have always been inextricably linked to music. This record is a perfect fusion of his brand’s gothic aesthetic, melding music and design, with a black engraved jacket and graphic drawing.
