The idea of the collaboration began circulating after the producer and songwriter BloodPop, who works closely with Lady Gaga, posted about SOPHIE’s album on Twitter. When fans asked if SOPHIE could end up working with Gaga, BloodPop simple replied with the word “wink” and a winking face emoji – and you should always trust the emojis. Wink 😉— BloodPop® (@bloodpop) June 27, 2018 A fan recently approached SOPHIE after a show and asked about directly whether she’d been working with Gaga. “Yes,” SOPHIE says in a video shared on Twitter, before playing down expectations that the collaboration would 100% see the light of day. “Whatever, you know, I’m working on a lot of different things – if it comes out, that’s cool.” While none of this should be taken as a given until there is actual music you can actually hear, the collaboration makes sense timing-wise – there are rumours that Lady Gaga will release a new album to coincide with the start of her 74-date Las Vegas residency in December this year. SOPHIE’s debut album, Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides, was released last month. More recently she added production to Let’s Eat Grandma’s ace second album I’m All Ears.
