Earlier this week, Rihanna released her surprise single, “Sledgehammer”, from the upcoming Star Trek: Beyond film. While it didn’t seem like the most natural combination at the time, the singer has now released an accompanying featurette explaining her fangirl love for the cult franchise.

Wearing a vintage Star Trek t-shirt, the one-minute clip sees Riri explain how she first got into the intergalactic drama, and why she’s always been so drawn to it. “Star Trek has been in my life since I was a little girl,” she explains. "It was a world I didn't always understand but I could relate to.”

The singer also tweeted a sneak preview of the song’s upcoming video – which will apparently be premiering at 10am EST time (around 2pm GMT) today.
