As The FADER report, the guerilla gig was originally scheduled to take place at 2am following West’s last-minute appearance at Hot 97’s Summer Jam – itself a hasty replacement for his set at New York’s Governor’s Ball festival, which was cancelled due to bad weather. Virgil Abloh first teased the show on Instagram (in a since-edited caption) without specifying a location, and rumours quickly circulated on Snapchat and Instagram saying that the show would take place at Webster Hall. As crowds began to gather outside, Kanye tweeted that the show was “sold out”. But as more and more people showed up at the venue, NYPD vans appeared to try to control the mass of people. Webster Hall soon confirmed on Twitter that the show would not be taking place. Show at 2am SOLD OUT— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) June 6, 2016There is no late show at Webster Hall tonight.
