MusicStates of IndependenceCelebrate LA DIY culture with Amoeba staff's mixToday's guest editors flex their music muscles with this guide to what's on their shelves and their radar right nowShareLink copied ✔️August 11, 2014MusicStates of IndependenceTextClaire Marie Healy As part of our new summer US project States of Independence we've invited our favourite 30 American curators, magazines, creatives and institutions to takeover Dazed for a day. LA vinyl emporium Amoeba Music are opening shop at Dazed today with their guest edit dedicated to sharing their indie music expertise. On the racks are a Tijuana Panthers interview, exclusive Cherry Glazerr video, as well as mixes and selections from the music-mad staff over at Amoeba. Missing that California sunshine in your life? No worries – the staff at the Los Angeles music stalwart have made you a mix straight outta the CD and Vinyl racks that organise their brains – focussing on the local talent that's keeping the scene thriving. Just think of this mix as one big super Sundae: from the cool-as-ice cream clapalong punk of Death Valley Girls, to the syrupy synth provided by romantic newbies Roses, right to a sprinklng of irony-laden power pop courtesy of Bart Davenport. Scoop up, cool down and press play. (And if you were in any doubt of their genius, check the gallery below for some exclusive shots from their ongoing Amoeba Wax Museum series: Instagram pics where staff member + famous record cover equals more than amusing results...)
