Dazed Visionary and globetrotting filmmaker Matt Lambert specialises in expressionist shorts that mangle lust and terror to paint a new sexuality in youth culture. A similar tension intoxicates Austra’s neon electropop, and “Habitat”, from the Toronto group’s new EP of the same name, is no different. Something in Lambert’s video evokes those nervous first steps beyond suppressed desires, fleshy scenes criss-crossing as the song’s bubbly night-pulse propels its characters towards a new kind of aliveness.
