The new series bringing the legendary Detroit figureheads to London continues tonight with Kevin Saunderson and Factory Floor
Continuing tonight, Friday June 29th, dollop presents a summer series of heavy nights dedicated to the origins of techno, with legendary headliners Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May flown over from Detroit. Over three events continuing this July, the second instalment tonight will be supported by huge UK talents Factory Floor, and one half of Instra:mental, Boddika - all streamed live on Boiler Room. We speak to Factory Floor about their influences from Detroit...
Dazed Digital: How do you feel about playing the 'Detroit series' and how do you feel like the era/genre plays a particular significance to your work or musical interests, if it does?
Factory Floor: Really excited about [this], dance music has been a massive influence on my creativity and approach to making music, from going to free parties in the early 90s, to more contemporary events like dollop...
DD: What are your top 3 all time favourite tracks to via Detroit?
Factory Floor: Favourite tracks is tricky cause in retrospect there are loads, I guess songs that really imprinted on me when they came out are the slightly later stuff like Drexciya (everything Stinson ever made!), The Martian (Star Dancer), Infiniti (Game On/Think Quick)... Loads more but can't think off the top of my head...
DD: Who/what are you currently listening to in your own time?
Factory Floor: What have I been listening to lately... World Unknown stuff!
DD: What are you most excited about next?
Factory Floor: Can't wait for the Factory floor album release!
