It’s no wonder that a career in music is on the horizon for Joyce, the young artist whose family tree includes Bowie guitarist Mick Ronson and Suzi Fussey, creator of the Ziggy Stardust haircut, as well as being the daughter of the sound engineer to the likes of Bowie and Roxy Music. Despite her 70s roots, it is the influence of mid-sixties era Nico that shapes the style and vision of Joyce’s icy synth-pop, which is created from Joyce’s own fascination with the mystique and allure of Warhol’s muse - a fascination that features across her overall aesthetic. Joyce chats to Dazed following the release of her debut single, ‘Keep The Lights On’ alongside a stream of the ethereal remix from A$AP Rocky and Lil B collaborator, Clams Casino - who chose her as his Selects artist in the June issue.

...special about you?
I'm nothing special really. I try to write and perform the best I can, I feel like music to me is special.

...the story behind your name?
Joyce is my middle name and the name of my great aunt, it has great resonance and meaning with my family and me.

...your worst vice?
I have a few, I can't go into them all! But I daydream in mid conversation with people, that gets me into trouble all the time.

... your favourite sound?
I like the sound of my dog walking into a room, he sounds like he's tap-dancing.

...your favourite website? 
If I have a spare bit of money on my card I can't resist Asos.com an obvious choice but it's too addictive.

...your favourite record label?
Island has had such a great history of brilliant artists.

...your worst fashion secret?
Buying cheap jewellery and painting clear nail varnish over the inside so my fingers don't go green.

...are you listening to now?
I listen to all the music I grew up around still, nostalgia is a very powerful feeling for me.

How would you describe your work?
Hard, incredibly satisfying and something I'm proud of.
