In a tweet posted last night, Charli wrote: “me and robyn been making songs in the studio. happy pride ;)”. Granted, this isn’t much to go on, but still, it’s confirmed that they’ve been working together on a number of songs (plural!!!). Whether this will come in the form of a couple of singles, an EP, or a whole album is unclear, but social media users have been having a collective meltdown over the news – and fair enough. Charli’s last release was her 2022 album CRASH, while Robyn hasn’t released an album since Honey in 2018. The pair have never created music together before, but it’s clear there’s a lot of respect and affection between them both. In 2020, when Robyn won the Songwriter Of The Decade NME award, she gave Charli a shoutout in her acceptance speech. “There are lots of other really talented songwriters here tonight — Christine and Charli, Taylor Swift,” she said. me and robyn been making songs in the studio. happy pride ;)— Charli (@charli_xcx) June 8, 2023 The pair also chatted for a 2020 article in V Magazine, where Charli recalled a simple gesture of kindness from Robyn. “I’ll never forget when we were on tour in Australia together years ago…You came over to me at some party where I was feeling really nervous and you said, ‘Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks of you. We’ll have fun together, being ourselves.’ It was a really simple gesture, but one that has stuck with me forever.” Escape the algorithm!
