Hosted at Berlin’s industrial Nåpoleon Komplex in partnership with Gap, the event featured three short films from Harun Güler, Zoey Lee, and Adam Munnings, each presenting a distinct approach to the intersection of culture, identity, and gender, with an overarching focus on happiness and liberation. Güler’s In Limbo, for example, envisions a world beyond norms, clichés, and expectations, shot on location in Istanbul. Lee’s You Are Everything, meanwhile, is about “accepting yourself [and] creating community”, revolving around real stories, told by real people. Rounding out the trio of films is Munnings’ A Trip to Venus, which – as hinted in the title – captures the stories of the Berlin-based collective Venus Boys. “It’s been amazing to work with Gap and Zalando Marketing Services and offer our platform to three such talented and exciting new voices in filmmaking,” says Bunny Kinney, Creative Director of NOWNESS. “The work is poignant and powerful. We are so proud to represent queer voices across NOWNESS as we come together to celebrate these stories.” Following the special screening, guests were also treated to a Q&A hosted by the filmmaker Matt Lambert, plus DJ sets by Juliana Huxtable and Nene H. Missed out? Well don’t worry – you can now watch all three films via NOWNESS, and revisit the event in the gallery above.
