Today (November 18), the first official trailer has arrived, offering a hint of what to expect ahead of the premiere. As revealed in a previous teaser clip, the second season of the divisive — if undeniably influential — show will actually see Emily (Lily Collins) say au revoir to Paris, as she heads for the sunnier sights of Saint-Tropez on holiday. The holiday will presumably serve as an escape from her “dramatic and complicated” life, which involves attending fashion shows for the luxury marketing company whose social media she manages, and juggling several Parisian love interests (how awful). As in season one, these appear to include her neighbour and best friend’s boyfriend (played by Lucas Bravo). However, Emily herself is apparently set to be slightly less obnoxious this time around. Back in May, Collins explained that the character undergoes an “evolution” in the upcoming season, as she grows more accustomed to French culture. Nevertheless, the actor has since defended Emily’s grating cheerfulness in past episodes, saying in an October interview: “To have someone be optimistic, bright, and bubbly – it’s sad to think that people would look and go, ‘That’s a lot.’” Alongside Collins, Emily In Paris season two will see the return of Ashley Park, Camille Razat, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, and Samuel Arnold, alongside newcomers Jeremy O. Harris — as an “iconic designer” — and Lucien Laviscount. Of course, the real star of the show, Emily's avant basic style, is also back to commit more crimes against fashion, courtesy of legendary costume designer Patricia Field (who had to turn down the Sex and the City reboot due to her commitment to the gig).
