Well luckily enough, the house terrorised by Freddy Krueger in the 1984 horror classic A Nightmare On Elm Street just went up for sale. Known in Wes Craven’s slasher film as 1428 Elm St., a family home in Ohio, the house is actually based in Los Angeles’ Spalding Square. Built in 1919 in the Dutch Colonial style, the three bedroom property arrives on the market at $3.25 million, including a guesthouse and a pool. Offers are, appropriately, due by midnight on Halloween. “The whole neighborhood gets the tour bus treatment. People always get tickled when they see it,” says a spokesperson for the real estate company Douglas Elliman, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. “The façade is iconic.” However, the spokesperson adds: “The ties to the movie stop as soon as you walk through the front door. Inside, it’s a beautiful traditional-style space with a modern twist.” According to a listing, the property was “reimagined” by an English designer in the mid-2000s. Besides marking a slice of horror film history, the Nightmare On Elm Street house previously belonged to Lorene Scafaria, the director of Hustlers, who bought it back in 2013. Another filmmaker (and Scafaria’s partner), Bo Burnham, also reportedly made his acclaimed lockdown Netflix special Inside in the aforementioned guesthouse. If you don’t have $3.25 million lying around, you can still go and take a peek at the iconic property on Halloween. Real estate agents will apparently be there handing out sweets to trick-or-treaters. A Nightmare on Elm Street houseVia IMDbEscape the algorithm!
