Now, HBO has shared the first clip from And Just Like That – and it seems to contradict our previous intel. In the teaser – shared as part of a compilation of HBO Max’s upcoming shows – Carrie (SJP) and Mr Big (reprised by Chris Noth) appear to be happier than ever, cooking, dancing, and kissing in their shared kitchen. As you’ll remember, the pair got married at the end of the first SATC movie, after Big jilted the columnist at the altar earlier in the film. Things might not be as they seem in the new series, however, as a previously-leaked script revealed that the couple are, in fact, in the midst of a messy divorce. In the script, Carrie – now a podcast host in her 50s – is complaining to Miranda, Charlotte, and Stanford about her break-up with Big, as the exes fight over finances. Many of the original actors – including Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), Kristin Davis (Charlotte), Willie Garson (Stanford), John Corbett (Aiden), David Eigenberg (Steve), and Evan Handler (Harry) – are set to reprise their roles. The show has also cast its first non-binary actor and character in Sara Ramíez, who will play stand-up comic and podcaster Che Diaz. However, one key member of the original cast is missing. Kim Cattrall, who played everyone’s favourite sex-crazed PR Samantha Jones, isn’t returning for the reboot, having previously said of the show: “I don’t want to be in a situation for even an hour where I’m not enjoying myself.” According to a TikTok rumour, the show’s writers may have killed her off, after footage from filming showed the cast dressed in black mourning attire. Ari Parker will replace Samantha as Carrie’s new BFF, documentary filmmaker Lisa Todd Wexley. Patricia Field, the legendary costume designer behind the OG show’s iconic looks, will also be absent, instead lending her expertise to Netflix’s controversial series Emily in Paris.
