Since the show began filming, the likes of Hole’s Courtney Love have spoken out about its treatment of Anderson’s “complex trauma” following the sex tape’s theft and leak by Rand Gauthier in 1995. “My heart goes out to Pammy,” Love wrote in a Facebook post on Pam & Tommy back in May, adding: “Shame on Lily James” (who portrays one half of the iconic celebrity couple, alongside co-star Sebastian Stan). Tommy Lee, however, has recently spoken out in support of the upcoming miniseries, saying he’s “stoked” to see the story unfold. Though Lee hasn’t seen images of Sebastian Stan playing him — shared earlier this year — he tells Entertainment Tonight that he knows the actor, and says: “From what he’s told me, it’s a really beautiful story.” “I think a lot of people would think that it’s one thing, but it’s really about privacy and how things got crazy then. And there’s different laws now.” “The story is actually cool,” Lee goes on, though he reiterates: “What actually happened wasn’t.” “I feel like it was forever ago, but it’s a cool story and people need to know.” Despite the comments from Courtney Love, a close friend of Pamela Anderson, the actress and model hasn’t directly shared her feelings about Pam & Tommy, which will span eight episodes directed by I, Tonya’s Craig Gillespie. Alongside Lily James and Sebastian Stan, Seth Rogen will star as Gauthier. The show is yet to receive a release date.
