The wait is almost over. On Monday morning the new cast of HBOMax’s Gossip Girl reboot were spotted at the original show’s most iconic location – the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Among those seen sporting the iconic Constance and St. Jude’s uniforms were Rookie founder Tavi Gevinson, alongside actors Thomas Doherty, Emily Alyn Lind, Whitney Peak, Jordan Alexander, Zión Moreno, and Adam Chanler-Berat. The new season, which started filming last month, is set to be released in the summer of 2021. Although it will follow the same formula as the OG Gossip Girl (think: New York, privilege, and drama) the show’s producer Joshua Safran insists it is not a reboot, but instead an ‘extension’. While the show picks up eight years after it finished and has a completely new cast, the original narrator and voice of Gossip Girl, Kristen Bell, has been confirmed to return. Speaking on what would have changed on the Upper East Side this time around, Safran also said the show will be much more diverse than its predecessor and ‘very, very queer’.
