Watch Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya in the first trailer for Dune

Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of the science fiction epic is set to arrive in December

The trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, the upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi novel of the same name, has finally arrived.

Starring Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, the son of a noble family, and Zendaya as Chani, a love interest to whom he’s mysteriously linked, the trailer gives us more insight into the dangerous desert planet of Arrakis (and yes, a giant sandworm does make an appearance).

Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, and more also feature in the trailer for the forthcoming film, which is currently set to release in the UK December 18.

Previously, Zendaya has called the film “incredible”, and a trickle of other details has arrived, including the fact that Villeneuve spent a whole year designing the sandworms before the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdowns “crushed” the film’s schedule.

Still, things look on track to find more success than David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation (just one of many disastrous attempts over the years, though perhaps the most ill-fated of the bunch).
