Leto was first linked to an Andy Warhol biopic, based on Victor Bockris’ 1989 book Warhol: The Biography, back in 2016. With Leto as both the lead actor and co-producer, the film also had Terence Winter – the screenwriter behind The Wolf of Wall Street and Boardwalk Empire – attached as a writer.
