One audition tape they might not have expected though comes from Azealia Banks. According to Pop Crave News, the rapper posted on her Instagram Stories: “Just sent an audition tape in for @euphoria @hbo.” It’s likely Banks is auditioning for the role of Ami, a “drug addict stripper” who “hates her boyfriend”, “talks shit”, “can’t read a room”, and “can make a bad situation worse”. While this sounds like a fairly fitting role for the musician, it’s also the only one she could really play. Other parts available are Darian, an “outsider” who’s “sensitive, vulnerable, and mischievous”, the “attractive” and “working class” Ray who has a “pure heart” and “a smile so genuine it’s not depressing” that he probably won’t go anywhere in life, and middle-aged white woman Serena, who’s “sassy and tough” and “the kind of woman who partied her whole life”. Azealia Banks says she sent in an audition tape for HBO’s “Euphoria” on Instagram. pic.twitter.com/DM3fMEk8sj— Pop Crave (@PopCrave) January 20, 2020 Euphoria is set to air at some point this year, according to a HBO teaser, and will see Zendaya reprise her role, along with Dazed100 alum Hunter Schafer and Alexa Demie. If cast, this won’t mark Banks’ first foray into acting, as the rapper appeared in the 2005 dramatic-documentary-musical film, The American Ruling Class, in which she appears as an uncredited singing/dancing child, as well as the 2017 film Love Beats Rhymes. Banks has always been interested in acting, once sending audition tapes for TBS, Nickelodeon, and Law & Order – all without success. The casting call for Euphoria closes on January 27 – find out how to apply here. Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday.
