Film & TVNewsFilm & TV / NewsJane Fonda gets arrested (again) for protesting climate changeThis is the third time the actress has been detained in her protests inspired by Greta ThunbergShareLink copied ✔️October 26, 2019October 26, 2019TextThom Waite The 81 year old actress Jane Fonda was awarded the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award at last night’s Bafta Britannia Awards (October 25), but she couldn’t be there to pick it up in person. Instead, she sent a video message, thanking the organisers while being arrested in Washington DC for staging a climate protest. Yesterday also marked the third Friday in a row that Fonda has been arrested for protesting climate change as part of her “Fire Drill Fridays”, which are in support of a Green New Deal. (If you think “Fonda’s Fire Drill Fridays” echoes Greta Thunberg’s speeches then you’re probably right; the actress has named the teenage activist as an inspiration.) 71 year old actor Ted Danson was also arrested yesterday after joining the protests for the first time. He was seen marching with Fonda, chanting: “Get in motion, save the ocean.” Folks, @Janefonda accepted the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award WHILE BEING ARRESTED. #Britanniaspic.twitter.com/LDbZKTZWrs— BAFTA Los Angeles (@BAFTALA) October 26, 2019Expand your creative community and connect with 15,000 creatives from around the world.READ MOREWatch: Owen Cooper on Adolescence, Jake Gyllenhaal and Wuthering HeightsOwen Cooper: Adolescent extremesIt Was Just An Accident: A banned filmmaker’s most dangerous work yetChase Infiniti: One breakthrough after anotherShih-Ching Tsou and Sean Baker’s film about a struggling family in TaiwanWatch: Rachel Sennott on her Saturn return, turning 30, and I Love LA Mapping Rachel Sennott’s chaotic digital footprintRachel Sennott: Hollywood crushRichard Linklater and Ethan Hawke on jealousy, creativity and Blue MoonPillion, a gay biker romcom dubbed a ‘BDSM Wallace and Gromit’I Wish You All the Best is the long-awaited non-binary coming of age storyThe Ice Tower, a dark fairytale about the dangers of obsession
