According to Variety, Warner Bros has slated the sci-fi epic for a November 20, 2020 release. This should come as good news to fans, who can start crossing off the days, as – all going well – the film looks set to be pretty great. Besides the aforementioned (and almost too good to be true) cast, Frank Herbert’s sprawling 1965 novel will be in good hands with Villeneuve at the helm, who’s proven himself with titles including Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, and Sicario. Obviously, we can’t forget the legacy of David Lynch’s 1984 Dune adaptation with Twin Peaks’ Kyle MacLachlan, either. Hopefully Villeneuve’s will do a bit better at the box office, though, since Lynch’s earned a $30 million gross on a $40 million budget. Escape the algorithm!
