Also on display are key signature Husam El Odeh pieces, including one-off editorial pieces like a necklace made from gold watches for a shoot in Numero in 2005, the comb glasses from the first issue of AnOther Man, and a second edition of the watch top which had been on show at Colette very briefly before having been bought by Karl Lagerfeld personally. The exhibition is in celebration of the new Acne concession at Harrods where the Armour jeans will be exclusively on sale and their co-hosting of Husam El Odeh's work was to celebrate the opening. Speaking of the event, Acne creative director Jonny Johansson says, "For me it was such an interesting development working with Husam. We interviewed him for acnestudios.com about his illustrative work and when we wanted to start working with silver we stumbled across his silver pieces. I loved meeting with him and discovering, in his garage in Hackney overlooking this amazing garden, the incredible ways you can transform things in silver. This is an ongoing exploration... I am more interested in releationships - I am not really into one night stands."The opening party of the Acne, Harrods and designer Husam El Odeh show enjoyed a champagne reception in the new Acne boutique in the Designer Studio at Harrods where waiters carrying antique silver trays and wearing silver metal bowties designed by Husam El Odeh weaved through the crowd of well wishers who gathered to celebrate the opening of the new boutique and a retrospective of El Odeh’s work.
