Jonathan Anderson has just announced his imminent return to the film industry, revealing on Instagram that he’s teaming up with his favourite director once again. “Very excited to be working with the amazing Luca Guadagnino,” wrote the incumbent Dior boss on his story last night (July 20). On the same post, the designer also shared the announcement that Cooper Koch will be joining Anora’s Yura Borisov and Andrew Garfield in Artificial, the new Guadagnino flick that he’ll be designing for.

Artificial will chart the corporate drama surrounding OpenAI, one of the world’s leading artificial intelligence companies, that was famously embroiled in scandal when CEO Sam Altman was unceremoniously dumped then re-hired in November 2023. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Guadagnino will be framing the events as a “comedic drama”, and after being fast-tracked by studio Amazon MGM, will begin shooting this summer in San Francisco and Italy. Garfield is set to star as beleaguered CEO Altman, Borisov will take on the role of his ouster Ilya Sutskever, and A Complete Unknown’s Monica Barbaro will be interim CEO Mira Murati.

Though we don’t have any more details about the casting, Anderson’s recent announcement that he’ll be taking on the costume design is sure to please many. The Irish designer previously collaborated with Guadagnino on Queer and Challengers, both released in 2024. The latter birthed the viral ‘I TOLD YA’ t-shirt, worn by Zendaya and Josh O’Connor in the movie and sold by Loewe at the time, while Anderson’s take on 1950s tailoring in Queer helped elevate Drew Starkey to heartthrob status.

Elsewhere, Anderson and Guadagnino have also joined forces when the Italian director was spotted outside J Dubs’ recent Dior debut with a cameraman, chatting to and recording guests for a film we presume is yet to be revealed. And if that wasn’t enough, Guadagnino also stepped in front of the lens as one of the many stars of the designer’s recent JW Anderson rebrand this summer. They just can’t get enough of each other it seems.
