FashionRound-up Sophie Thatcher and Amelia Gray are the stars of Valentino’s AW25 campaignAlessandro Michele wants us to see the beauty in our daily routines, plus all the fashion news you missed this weekShareLink copied ✔️April 18, 2025FashionRound-up TextIsobel Van Dyke “We live in an era of violent uproar,” writes Alessandro Michele in the release for Valentino’s AW25 campaign film, titled The Poetics of Everyday. “The everyday is not a backdrop that animates only when the extraordinary steps in,” he continues, encouraging us to appreciate our daily routines. The little things that may seem ordinary, but bring us joy, no matter how small – like going for ice cream, unpuzzling a Rubik’s Cube or going for a bike ride, for example. Of course, as with all Michele concepts, there are elements of surrealism. A cockatoo perched on the shoulder of one model, a horse clip-clopping into frame, or an unexpected snowstorm when Yellow Jackets actress Sophie Thatcher appears. Amelia Gray also dashes in and out of the ice cream parlour backdrop, playing with a yo-yo – part of her daily routine, perhaps? The news we’ve all been eagerly awaiting was finally announced today, as Jonathan Anderson was confirmed as the creative director of Dior Men. In other major fashion news, Duran Lantink was announced as the creative director Jean Paul Gaultier, meanwhile, the internet obsessed over Coachella’s wildest looks. The house famously has a long history with Japan – Monsieur Dior was the first French couturier to present a collection there in 1953, and was often inspired by Japanese traditional dress in his couture collections. This time, Maria Grazia Chiuri sent models down the runway in kimono-inspired clothing with intricate flower detailing, which mirrored the pink cherry blossoms above that have just come into season. The protest tee first caught our attention in February, when Ives wore it to close his AW25 fashion show, though it feels particularly poignant today following the Supreme Court’s ruling that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex. The second biggest space story of the week was when Zendaya teamed up with Nadia Lee Cohen for On’s latest campaign film – a trailer for your favourite new sci-fi blockbuster. The Swiss athleisure brand gave us its spin on Star Trek, meanwhile Nadia made a valid point on Instagram, writing: “Zendaya in space for longer than 11 minutes”.
