FashionNewsIs Hedi Slimane launching his own brand?Celine’s ex-creative director has been teasing us on Instagram, but what’s he up to? Plus everything you missed in fashion this weekShareLink copied ✔️December 20, 2024FashionNewsTextIsobel Van Dyke What’s going on with Hedi Slimane? The elusive French designer seems to be up to something. This week, the Instagram account @hedislimanehomme emerged, sparking speculation over his next move and reigniting the rumour mill. Since leaving Celine back in October, gossip has swirled around what the designer will do next. Many had their money on Slimane for the top job at Chanel, especially given the not-so-subtle Chanel-esque silhouettes of his final Celine collection. It’s also well known that he had Lagerfeld’s nod of approval. Despite the chatter, last week we learnt that wouldn’t be the case, with ex-Bottega creative director Matthieu Blazy headed to Chanel instead. With this new Instagram handle, along with a spattering of fresh posts appearing on Slimane’s own account, could he be hinting that he’s about to launch his own namesake brand? Having worked at Dior Homme and Saint Laurent before he headed to Celine, Slimane has proved his capabilities and cemented his legacy, and now with the Chanel job filled, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see him embark on a new chapter under his own name. As it stands, both Instagram accounts have been posting photos from the Hedi Slimane archive, reminding the world of his greatest hits with a trip down memory lane. Could he be reminding us of his past before introducing us to his future? We’ll have to wait and see. Elsewhere in fashion this week, it was announced that the largest ever Margiela auction will be happening in January, we caught up with Sam Woolf, stylist to woman of the moment Doechii, meanwhile Carlijn Jacobs and Imruh Asha joined forces on a festive fashion shoot.
