Led by founder and Dazed contributor KK Obi, after landing in Berlin last season, this time around the mag brings cover star Kelela and queer Ethiopian activist Faris Cuchi Gezahegn together for a conversation in which they discuss how to remodel artistic practice in a world that’s frequently hostile, while London writer and former Gal-Dem editor-in-chief Liv Little reflects on the communities that helped bring her debut novel Rosewater to life. Elsewhere, new editorial director Matthew Benson explores the ways in which BLM has impacted in fashion and whether the industry could back-pedal to a time pre-protest, and Andrew Pasquiar examines the movement’s ongoing legacy and the ways in which it was portrayed on social media. Rounding things off is Palestinian writer Ahmad Harhash, who unpacks the forgotten impact of Afro-Palestinian struggle, and Richie Shazam, who captures one of six beautiful covers. Others involved include Liz Johnson Artur, CGI artist Maurice Andresen, and Ghanaian preacher turned performance artist Va-Bene Elikem Fiatsi, seen in another arresting cover story.
