Rihanna is back to save 2020 with another Savage x Fenty extravaganza

2020 might have been a total shitshow, but this week Rihanna herself revealed news that made just that little bit more tolerable. After joining forces with Amazon Prime Video (okay, kind of ew) to stage a Savage x Fenty extravaganza at NYFW last September, the icon revealed part two is coming very soon: on October 2 to be precise. On the line-up this time around are the likes of Travis Scott, Bad Bunny, and Rosalia, with Bella Hadid, Paloma Elsesser, Lizzo, Demi Moore, Rico Nasty, Paris Hilton, and drag superstars Jaida Essence Hall, Gigi Goode, and Shea Couleé all taking a turn on the runway.

Having been mates since back in the Haçienda days, Gary Aspden enlisted New Order’s Bernard Sumner to create a new collaborative collection for the label’s Spezial line. Produced in uber-limited quantities, the line is made up of football jerseys bearing the iconic band’s song titles, reimagined cult sneakers, and nylon track jackets emblazoned with tour dates and logos. …in the form of Maximilian Davis, who joins Saul Nash, Nensi Dojaka, and Goom Heo on the SS21 line-up. Drawing inspo from his grandmother’s upbringing in Trinidad, as well as the roots and imagery of Carnival in the 19th century, the designer’s first collection will be seen as part of Fashion East’s first virtual show this Sunday, September 20.

Previously only available to those outside the US willing to pay some hefty shipping fees to get their hands on it, Kim Kardashian West announced her underwear line SKIMS is set to land in the UK this week. You’ve got a few weeks to wait though: head to Selfridges to get your fix from October 5.

Soon after dropping its AW20 line, which featured a tube of Supreme x Colgate toothpaste, a collaborative lipstick designed by Pat McGrath, and a fuckboy-esque Chucky doll, after weeks of speculation in the deepest depths of Grailed and Reddit, the label announced it had joined forces with iconic Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto. The collection is made up of oversized parkas, tailored jackets and trousers, and intarsia knitwear bearing archive graphics, prints, and Yamamoto’s signature logo. And yes, it’s all sold out, so good luck with that.

Through a trippy video that traversed the line between the IRL and digital realms, rising NY label Collina Strada presented SS21 offering ‘Change is Cute’. Featuring a cast including Aaron Phillips, Kimberly Drew, Oyinda, and Sasha Frolova, as well as a bunch of dolphins, puppies, and anthropomorphic flowers, the collection itself was made up of pieced together dresses, 00s-esque separates, and oversized hoodies and tees bearing the label’s name, all created using repurposed, offshoots, and discarded materials.

Joining forces with cult US label GRVTY, SoundCloud debuted a new clothing line made up of tees, sweatshirts, hoodies, and slipmats emblazoned with messages including ‘Futuristic Frequencies And Advanced Vibrations’, ‘Exalted, Sonically’, and ‘Pure & Wondrous Sounds’. Seemingly they’re ignoring the questionable ‘mixes’ your fuckboy ex uploaded to the platform with those statements, but we’re here for the positivity.

The pair were there back in June to shoot the campaign for Versace’s latest fragrances, Dylan Blue and Dylan Turquoise. Another streetwear label mad for the early 90s music scene right now is Palace, which dropped a collection in tribute to legendary Mancs the Happy Mondays. Including oversized shirts and tees covered in the band’s album and single artwork, the line got the seal of approval from OGs Shaun Ryder and Bez in a pretty lols video. Check it out here.

The LVMH-prize winning designer, who hails from South Africa, launched his website this week. Complete with a store, the site acts as a resource for materials and reading on the brand (and takes its inspiration from educational websites). Check it out here. 

...or more specifically the label’s 2 Moncler 1952 line, as designed by Sergio Zambon. Inspired by the multicultural hotpot that is Los Angeles, Zambon joined forces with local creatives including Libertine, Balt Getty, and more on the collection, and enlisted Lacy to take centre stage in the accompanying campaign. Tbh, not sure he’s gonna need that hat looking at the setting, but we’ll go with it.

Carhartt WIP joined forces with Sydney retailer SUPPLY on a new collection made up of functional windbreakers, hoodies, tees, and accessories.
