No problem!ShareLink copied ✔️August 25, 2020FashionNewsTextEmma Elizabeth DavidsonGucci AW2020 Imagesview more + Fancy your chances at becoming a Gucci model? No, Alessandro Michele isn’t hosting an open casting (yet), but a new trend is sweeping TikTok and, if you have designs on treading the Italian label’s runway, you might just want to give it a go. Catchily named the #GucciModelChallenge, the format sees users dig into their wardrobes for a pretty large selection of garments (come on, this is Gucci after all). Set to an original sound by @unofficiallachwatson, which reels off the sartorial steps towards becoming Gucci catwalk ready, those participating in the challenge pile an almost Joey Tribbiani-esque amount of clothes, one garment after another. Starting with a turtleneck sweater, a clashing shirt, and an oversized jacket, the look is finished with an A$AP Rocky-approved silk headscarf, a slick of pink lipstick, and a huge pair of sunglasses (what else?). Unsurprisingly, since TikTok has become a certified hotbed for young, creative talent, a huge majority of those taking the challenge on hit the (GG-engraved, crystal embellished) nail on the head when it comes to their look. “Gucci if you’re watching this, please let me model for you”, the video voiceover finishes, and truly, if you’re reading this Alessandro Michele, how could you turn them down? Given the Italian designer is looking beyond fashion’s many model agencies when casting his shows right now – enlisting his atelier team to model in both his AW20 and Epilogue presentations this year – it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that the he might turn his attention to TikTok when it comes to his next.
