Pyer Moss has turned its NYC office into a coronavirus donation centre

Founder Kerby Jean-Raymond is also setting aside $50,000 to help minority and women-owned businesses amidst the pandemic

Taking to Instagram, designer Kerby Jean-Raymond of Pyer Moss announced this afternoon that he would be converting his New York office into a donation centre to help facilitate those fighting coronavirus. 

Voicing his concern over the shortage of basic supplies provided to medical professionals, the space will see donated latex gloves and N95 face masks become available to those who need them during this time.

“We will convert the Pyer Moss office in NYC to a donation centre,” the post reads. “We will use recommended hygiene and social distancing practices to receive and redistribute these items directly to medical professionals on an as needed basis.” 

Reflecting on how difficult the situation has become for a huge number of people, the designer spoke of his sister, seemingly a medic, who came into contact with the virus. “My sister was exposed and her elder patients’ safety has been compromised due to some professionals having to wear makeshift masks.” 

Signing off the message ‘Your Friends in NYC’, Raymond has also promised he will be setting aside $50,000 for minority and female-owned small businesses which are ‘currently facing distress’. 

“If you cannot make payroll, or cannot cover pressing costs to keep your business afloat, please reach and let us know how we can help,” the post states.

Often using his platform in fashion to spread messages of equality and to champion black stories and talent, Raymond is the latest designer to provide his support during the virus outbreak.
