Paloma Elsesser stole the show at Fendi

Milan Fashion Week can have a little body diversity, as a treat

While New York continues to diversify season on season, sending models of a huge variety of genders, races, ages, abilities, and body types down the runway, the other three fashion capitals could be doing much better – particularly when it comes to working with models who don’t fit in your average UK size 6 sample.

Fendi seemingly recognised this yesterday when it enlisted contemporary supermodel in the making Paloma Elsesser to walk in its AW20 show, which took place in Milan.

Wearing a chic tailored jacket and matching skirt, both in shades of Fendi yellow, Elsesser joined the likes of Bella and Gigi Hadid, Karen Elson, and Kaia Gerber on the carpeted catwalk, with fellow so-called ‘plus-size’ model Jill Kortleve also on the line-up.

When it came to the collection itself, slick leather coats, wool jackets, and flouncy, chiffon dresses with unique structured sleeves are the order of the day for AW20 according to Fendi, with looks finished with bags big and tiny (FYI: the huge shopping totes first seen at men’s were back), grown-up clutches, and satin pumps. Between this and Prada, the forecast for AW20 is so far, so chic.
