As revealed on the Paris runway at White Mountaineering’s AW20 show last week, the project aims to unify Colmar’s pioneering technology with the Tokyo-based brand’s signature streetwear-informed aesthetic. The offering itself is made up of functional windbreakers and waterproof track pants bearing utilitarian pockets, as well as hoodies, t-shirts, and roll-neck tops emblazoned with dual-branded detailing. According to Yosuke Aizawa, who founded White Mountaineering back in 2006, inspiration for the collection struck while looking through Colmar’s vast archives. “I love backcountry snowboarding and I like Colmar a lot,” the designer explains of the project. “When I got the offer (to collaborate with them) I was thrilled.” “As soon as we met Yosuke we realised there was great harmony,” adds Giulio Colombo, CEO of Colmar. “In this collaboration we have found the perfect partner.” Escape the algorithm!
