‘You have to vote Corbyn!’ says Vivienne Westwood

The designer just debuted two original drawings in support of the Labour leader

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s likely you’ll have noticed there’s a general election coming up(!), and although each polling day carries unique importance and significance, this one feels particularly momentous in its potential to create positive change. For years the Conservatives have put austerity before people – worsening lives with each corrupt policy they implement and each awful thing they say

With the election set to take place this Thursday, December 12, the lead up has seen many creatives share their support for Labour. With everyone from Ashley Williams and Matty Bovan, right through to Stormzy and Wiley making their allegiances known, Vivienne Westwood has also continuously shown her support for Jeremy Corbyn and his party.

The fashion icon now debuts two drawings, with one depicting a yellow, Jeremy Corbyn-esque smiley face wearing an apron that says “What’s good for the planet is good for the economy”. The other is an image of Boris Johnson which sees him dubbed a “Trumpette”, as part of a dig at the similarities between him and the American President

“This is the most important election of the human race – you have to vote Corbyn!” Westwood explains. In reference to the two images, the designer points out that “One is a devil, one wants to make the world a better place.” No prizes for guessing which is which, FYI.

Having previously voiced her admiration for Greta Thunberg, shown up at the frontline in the fight against fracking in Lancashire, and just last month signed an open letter in which she showed her support for Corbyn, Westwood continues to be one of the most outspoken political figures in fashion.
