Coinciding with the release of a nine-piece capsule collection, the night doubled as an exhibition and a party – with music by Night Slugs-affiliated producer Sweyn Jupiter and Mobbs – with guests voguing to a mix of hip-hop, bashment, and big beat Latin tracks throughout the evening. Alongside this, stunning, saturated images from Butterfly – a multimedia project lensed by Gordon that captures the trans community in Cuba – were dotted across the venue walls. With sprawling collages of the Havana project on the walls, the final room provided a private screening of Gordon’s moving film, which profiles some of the fascinating women he met during his time in Cuba. Though London weathered a chilly, wet evening, a little bit of the Cuban spirit found a home in Soho for a few hours. The Aries and Havana Club capsule collection is available now, with the celebrations set to continue in Berlin and Tokyo, where the launch will take place at the city’s oldest art bookshop. To mark the collaboration, Havana Club is also launching a contest to win pieces from the collaboration – to find out more click here.
