The offering is the fourth instalment in Diesel’s experimental fashion project, Red Tag, which has previously seen collaborations from designers including Hood By Air’s Shayne Oliver and Glenn Martens of Y/Project. Already teased as part of the A-COLD-WALL* SS20 show in June, the collection comprises a series of avant-garde workwear style pieces, all with a distinctly utilitarian feel. Denim jeans and overshirts are offset using ACW* founder Samuel Ross’s signature memory nylons, while acid bleached, deconstructed pieces and heavily distressed parkas also feature. The installation, which took over Grand Street in SoHo, displayed suspended garments alongside white fluorescent tube-lighting and raw metal scaffolding, reflecting the workwear and utilitarian nature of the clothes. Also making its debut as part of the event was a short film by former Dazed 100-er Dexter Navy which sees a number of models wearing the garments enveloped in huge clouds of coloured paint powder.
