When it comes to the most wonderful time of the year, seeing Rihanna joyfully descend on her home country of Barbados for the end of its summer Crop Over Festival each year is way, way higher up there than sitting around a dry af turkey listening to your dad go on (and on) about Brexit could ever be. And when it comes to this, the year of our Lord 2019, we were treated to a truly bumper edition. Having landed on the island yesterday wearing a tie-waist satin shirt by Collina Strada and a full-length skirt from her latest Fenty collection, RiRi later showed all the way up to the final event of the month-long festival wearing a full-on flamingo-feathered mini, green (presumably Fenty) eyeshadow, diamante glasses, and metallic pink shoes, with her hair worn in Bantu knots. As styled by longtime collaborator Jahleel Weaver, the dress was created by Amsterdam-based designer David Laport. Obviously this is not the first time RiRi has given us life with her Carnival ensembles. Over the course of the last few years, the internet has collectively held its breath while waiting to see what the singer, make-up mogul, and fashion designer would show up in, with glittering cage bras, jewel-encrusted thongs, and brightly dyed feathers all featuring heavily among her choices. In fact, so iconic were her previous looks that we called for them to be included in the upcoming Rihanna museum after plans to open it were revealed by the Prime Minister of Barbados last month. Until plans solidify around that, though, we encourage you to do as we’re doing and just behold and bask in Rih's latest Carnival ensemble, knowing that in doing so clear skin, shiny hair, and great fortune are well on their way to you.
