Calvin Klein has a longstanding reputation for putting out campaigns with a star-studded cast. Last year saw Millie Bobby Brown, Solange, Kelela, and the entire Kardashian clan all star in their own #MyCalvin campaigns. Now, to launch the Spring 2019 collections of both jeans and underwear, CK has brought back campaign veterans A$AP Rocky and Kendall Jenner, and on the way picked up Shawn Mendes and To All the Boys I've Loved Before actor Noah Centineo for their Calvin Klein debuts.
Shot by Glen Luchford, the new Calvin Klein Jeans and Underwear campaign is all about celebrating the youth of today. Dancing around homes in a typical suburban American neighbourhood, chilling on rooftops and making out in the back seat of cars (all while singing along to “True Faith” by New Order), the campaign captures the energy of coming-of-age.
As a further celebration of young adulthood, a new series of product-focused images, shot by Tyler Mitchell, will be released throughout the season. The collection itself includes the rival of the brand’s archival pieces, such as classic jean washes with the Calvin Klein monogram. “Fitted, comfortable, all-American,” is Rocky's summation of the ongoing legacy of CK’s classic underwear, while explaining his own campaign, were he to shoot one, would be “Black and white, real original, 90’s style. I’d make it very sexy.”
But the all-important question: what comes between the American rapper and his Calvins? “What?! I don’t even know how to answer that,” he laughs.
